On My Radar: Global Citizen Festival
Last week I had the amazing opportunity of attending the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park. A friend of mine won tickets and at the last minute couldn't go and gave them to my roommate and I (how lucky are we?!). Global Citizen Festival is a free concert offered to Global Citizens who help spread awareness of the organization and win concert tickets from the raffle.
Global Citizen was created in 2012 by the Global Poverty Project, Riot House and Ryan Gall. Their goal is "A world where every child has a chance to go to school, a world where women and girls are protected from violence, and where preventable diseases aren't holding people back."(Global Citizen). Global Citizen is an amazing organization and has already been able to accomplish so much.
I honestly don't even have the words to describe how incredibly amazing the concert was. The headliners were Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Beyonce and Pearl Jam. They had other guests including, Arianna Grande, Leonardo Dicaprio, Kerry Washington, Malala Yousafzai, the Vice President, the First Lady and many others. Not only were the performers unbelievable but all of the guest speakers were inspiring in how they hoped to instill change. It was truly the best concert I have ever been to.
I encourage everyone to participate and become a Global Citizen.
