On My Radar: Second Semester
As I have finished the first two weeks of my second semester, I have decided to make a few goals that I hope to accomplish over the course of the semester.
Here they are:
Choreograph a Dance
I have danced my entire life but I have never choreographed anything. It absolutely terrifies me. Choreographing is something that I have wanted to try since starting college and just have never had the guts to try it. This semester I am taking a choreography class so we shall see how that goes. I am a very uptight person that needs to learn to let go. My goal is to choreograph two pieces.
Improve my Study Habits
Last semester I hardly ever used the library. It wasn't until the end of the semester that I started going. I usually study in my room but I have realized how easily distracted I am there. When I am in the library there is no temptation to hang out with friends or watch Netflix. I plan on going to the library at least three times a week.
Take Time for Myself
I am the type of person that needs to spend time alone. There is something to be said about peace and quiet. I like to think I do my best thinking when I am alone. As a college student this can be very difficult when all of your friends live within a five minute walk from one another. Now don't get me wrong I love to spend time with my friends but I also need some time alone.
I. Need. Sleep. If I don't get enough sleep I can get very cranky. I wish I was the type of person that could function with only a few hours of sleep but alas I am not. I always have high hopes that I will get to bed early each night but one thing leads to another and the next thing I know it's midnight. Obviously there will be things that come up and I will have to stay up certain nights but I hope that this semester I will do a better job at getting to bed early at least two nights a week.
Work Out More
As a dance major I dance every day but I don't always feel as though it is enough. Cross training is an extremely important role in dancing. This semester I want to make a set schedule of when I will go to the gym. I have found that if I have a scheduled time set aside for the gym, I am much more inclined to go, as long as it's not too cold out...
Eat a Balanced Diet
I have an absolutely horrible diet. I am an extremely picky eater so eating healthy can be tricky. Completely changing my diet is unrealistic for me but I hope to change a few things about my diet to start moving in the right direction. I want to drink less caffeine and eat more fruits and vegetables. I could live off of bread and cheese but I want to limit both these foods to once a day.
Living so close to the city has its benefits but one of the major downfalls is money. It is so easy to blow through money as a college student especially when exploring New York City. Freshmen year I went through a lot of money and didn't track what I was spending it on. This semester I want to monitor my bank account and keep a list of what I am spending my money on.
