Life As A Dance Major: Show Week
Show week for any dancer whether a major or not is always a stressful time. It's Chaotic yet exciting, nerve wracking yet rewarding . This weekend I am performing at Hofstra with one of the performance clubs on campus, Danceworks. Although show week seems like it is never ending, there is something to be said about the satisfaction dancing in front of an audience and performing in a show. The cast of dancers has been working tirelessly all semester, perfecting each step in order to be perfect during the show.
Danceworks is a student run club on campus that puts on a show every semester. The pieces range from contemporary, tap, hip hop, and jazz. I'm in one of my friend's jazz pieces and we are dancing to the song "Feeling Good". This is oddly one of my favorite songs and I was so excited when I found out I would be dancing to this.
This show means a lot to me as it is the first performance I will be perfoming in since I broke my wrist. There is a feeling I get when on stage that is indescribable. It's a feeling of pure bliss. No one can stop you.
As stressful as show week is, I wouldn't trade it for anything.
