A Night at the Gala
A few weeks ago, I attended the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) Gala at the Metropolitan Opera. My friend Amber (check out her apartment featured on the blog) works for ABT and graciously brought me as her plus one. The Gala marks the start of the Met season and a preview of what the company will be performing. It was truly a lovely evening.
I haven’t had the chance to dress up in awhile and this was the perfect opportunity. I wore a navy jumpsuit from Urban Outfitters and my light blue block heels I picked up from Target last year. This was my first time wearing 3-inch heels in the city and let me tell you, it was not fun running from the subway to Lincoln Center. It was a very “Carrie Bradshaw” moment.
The performance consisted of three excerpts of pieces from their summer season. My favorite dancer of all time, Isabella Boylston, performed in the first piece, Harlequinade. The last two pieces were world premieres and were very different from the usual classical works the ballet company performs. They were all so different but I can't wait to see them all in their entirety in the coming months.
It was a night of beautiful people, beautiful gowns, and a beautiful art form. I love any chance to get dressed up and watch dance.
Do you enjoy getting dressed up?
